Sigalit's Granola Bars

mix these:
2/3 oil
1 1/2 cup brown sugar (substitute with date syrup)
1/4 cup honey
2 teas vanilla
4 eggs
2 cups whole wheat
2 tea cinnamon
1 tea baking soda
1/2 t salt

then add these:
3 cups oats
4 cups puffed rice
2 cups nuts
up to 2 cups dried fruit (raisins, apricots, etc)
TONS OF LOVE

Press in a pan and bake 350 for 1/2 hour or a bit more

Milk Substitutes

Almond Milk - so easy soooo yummy..can this really be healthy?
-soak 1 cup almonds overnight to release enzyme inhibitors (rinse well the next morning in cold water)
- 4 cups of water
- 2 tblspoons of coconut flakes and/or 5 macadamia nuts and/or fresh coconut
Blend a lot, strain out almond pulp with cheese cloth or porous fabric, put back into blender with
-1/4 inch fresh vanilla stick or 3 drops of vanilla extract
-10 Halawi dates (seeded and checked)
- optional: add carob power for chocolaty drink
serving suggestions: with ice to refresh, pour over granola or fruit, great milk replacement

Sesame Milk .. sesame is very good source of calcium that the body can actually absorb. Good for broken bones and improving osteoporosis
- 1 cup sesame seeds (soaked overnight)
- 5 macadamia nuts
1) add to blender with 3.5 cups of cold water
2) strain with cheese cloth or fabric
3) blend again with
- 16 halawi dates (checked and pitted)
- 1/4 inch fresh vanilla stick or 2 drops of vanilla extract

Brazil Milk
-3/4 cup of almonds soaked overnight
-1/2 cup of brazil nuts
(follow the rest of the directions for sesame milk)

Chai Coconut Milk
-the meat from 1/2 fresh coconut
-3.5 cups of water
1) Blend for 2 minutes
2) strain
3) add to blender with 16 halawi dates and vanilla bean
4) pour out
5) sprinkle powered chai spice (cinnamon, cardamon, cloves, and ginger)


Sprouts

Sprouts in the Tanach....... Book of Daniel 1:10

Use glass jar, add mung + lentil + adzuki
Add 3x water and cover with porous cloth for airflow and leave overnight
in the morning, pour the water, add more (2 or 3 times)
leave jar tipped slightly upside down

Special Raw Food Edition!!

Almond Pulp Spead
-pulp of almond and coconut
-diced pepper
-cilantro
-pinch of cayenne
-olive oil
-say sauce
-lemon
-salt

serve with cabbage leaves to wrap

Sunflower Seed Spread
-celery or cilantro
-2 gloves of garlic
-2 cups of soaked seeds from overnight
-handful of walnuts (do not soak, oil is good!)
-curry spice
-salt
-lemon juice
-add water if too think
food processor

Banana Ice Cream
-3 peeled frozen bananas
-tahina (with husk)
-dates (6-7)
-ice cubes
optional: shredded coconut and vanilla)

Pickling technique

How to pickle capers/olives/parsiline leaves

put in jar
add vinegar equal to the caper/olive
garlic
onion
peppercorn
bayleaf
mustard seeds
lemon (cut into slices)
salt
seal and let chill for a long time

Chava's Simple Bread Puddin'

-tear old crusty bread into small pieces
-add soy or milk (1.5liquid=2 cups bread)
-clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla
-optional: sugar, coconut, raisens

Stir over flame until mush, pour into pan and bake 15-20 mins until golden brown on top

Kubaneh

This Sfardic bread dish is amazingly good served with Yemenite soup

  • 5 cups of flour (use half whole wheat)
  • make a well and add 2.5 tsp yeast, tbl salt, tbl sugar
  • Add 2 cups of warm water and whip the dough
Don't be alarmed, its a wet dough.
*tip: wet hand in water before whipping
  • Repeat whipping every half hour 3 times
  • pour oil on the counter and roll out dough into flat sheet
  • pour a little oil on the dough and roll it, cup into 6 sections
  • place pieces at bottom of an oiled tall pot and let rise unti 3/4 high
  • bake covered on bottom shelf on 350 for an hour or until crispy

Chanukah Suf Ganiot (donuts)

  • 3 cups of flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • dash of salt
  • 4 tbl. sugar
  • 1 cup yogurt (or sour cream if you aren't counting)
  • 1 cup milk
drop spoon full into canola oil
roll in powdered sugar
eat immediately!

Parve recipe:
  • 1 ounce yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 3 cups margarine
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • dash salt
  • 1 1/4 cup warm water
  • filling (chocolate spread, jelly)
  • oil
  • powdered sugar
mix flour, yeast. water, sugar and let rise
combine with the rest and let rise
fry, fry, fry

Zadok's Zucchini Cake

(Add ingredients in this order)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup of dark sugar (substitute with other sweetener)
  • 3/4 cup oil
Beat it
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • salt
  • cinn
  • all spice or nutmeg
  • 1 cup flour (whole wheat)
  • 2 cups of grated zucchini (or carrot)
  • add craisens or walnuts (optional)
bake for 350 for hour

Roast about a dozen small tomatoes
Roast about a head of garlic
throw it into a blender with
-half of raw onion
-mad salt
- 3 or 4 or 5 (depends on your tolerance) chipotle chilis
(I like to add lime, but that's not official)
